Bohol needs to create niches in tourism to promote its primary industry. This is the reason the province partners with the Panglao Association of Dive Operators (PADO) in launching the 1st Bohol Loop Dive Expo 2023, held on November 18 at the Ceremonial Hall, Capitol. This event is slated on April 15 to 30, 2022.
PADO president Ivy Kung said the group wants to promote alternative diving sites aside from the usual Balicasag and Panglao, which will include the towns of Mabini, Candijay, Anda, Duero, Garcia-Hernandez, Valencia, Dimiao, Calape, and Tubigon. To establish these diving sites, the mayors of the towns concerned signed a memorandum of agreement to regulate them through legislation.
Through this diving expo, the province can increase the influx of tourists in the following months. “We will show the world we have a lot to offer,” governor Aris Aumentado said during his speech delivered during the launching. He stressed we need to highlight different areas of Bohol. He thanked the PADO for its initiative.
The Bohol Loop Dive Expo aligns with one of the core agenda of governor Aumentado administration, which is sustainable tourism realized through innovations in tourism management practices.
Using the lens of strategic management, establishing this program applies the VRIO (stands for valuable, rare, inimitable, and organization) framework of strategy formulation. Our diving sites are valuable, as they offer unique flora and fauna that can amaze sight-hungry visitors. They are also somewhat rare because not all sites look the same. Other provinces cannot imitate our underwater wonders. We can organize the use of our unique resources, such as the diving sites and accessory services.
If our towns develop diving sites, we are using our leverage to generate more income sustainably. This is a Yeoman’s job this administration can be remembered for.
